Downtown Los Angeles

Skyscrapers dominate central Los Angeles (LA), California, the second largest city in the United States and the heart of a huge southern California megalopolis along the Pacific Ocean. The Greater LA basin includes within its area scores of towns and districts. It extends east from the ocean to the San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountain ranges. Founded by Spanish settlers in 1781, Los Angeles is now known for its smog and its hundreds of kilometres of motorway. The city is located over the San Andreas Fault.
Hollywood

Hollywood, film capital of the United States for more than half a century, is part of Los Angeles, a southern California megalopolis. Although many films are made on location in other places, the movie industry remains centred in Hollywood, where much of the nation’s talent and many motion picture studios are concentrated.
