Crna rupa juri našom galaksijom, hraneći se zvijezdom pratiljom

 

 

Podaci sa svemirskog teleskopa Science Institute's Digital Sky Survey odigrali su važnu pomoćnu ulogu pomažući da radio i x-ray astronomi otkriju jednu prastaru crnu rupu, koja juri kroz susjedstvo sunčeve galaksije.
Crna rupa proždire malu zvijezdu pratilju, putujući zajedno s njom u ekscentričnoj luping orbiti do vanjskih granica naše galaksije. Vjeruje se da je crna rupa ostatak masivne zvijezde koja je proživjela svoj život prije biliona godina i kasnije je pomoću gravitacije izbačena iz svoje zvjezdane grupe da bi lutala galaksijom skupa sa svojim parom.
